Wildcats Win Big at Weekend Invitational

It was a good weekend for Arizona softball.

No. 9 University of Arizona improved their season record to 20-2 following their 3-0 victory vs. No. 24 USC Upstate and their 9-3 win over Wisconsin. These ideal Saturday results helped them stay unbeaten at the Wildcat Invitational as standout pitcher Taylor McQuillin (14-1) notched eight strikeouts in the USC Upstate game. This was her second shutout win of a ranked opponent so far this season, and her eighth overall.

In their second game, the Wildcats breezed to their win despite a deficit to start. Led by pitcher Alyssa Denham (3-0), seven strikeouts and a full game on the mound was more than enough to fuel the fire as Arizona enjoyed a season-high 15 hits, five of them for extra bases. Dejah Mulipola had a great day at the plate, leading the team with four RBI on three hits, including her fifth homer on the season.

Aleah Craighton made a stunning catch in the first inning, leaping up to prevent a home run for Karla Beasley of USC Upstate.
