Across Arizona, more than 100,000 children are being raised by their grandparents or other relatives, according to recent statistics. Because of the challenges that can go along with parenthood the second time around, Duet offers support groups (among other helpful services) for grandparents raising grandchildren. 

Ideal for grandparents raising grandchildren in Ahwatukee, Duet will be offering new support groups at Mountain View Lutheran Church. See the details of these support groups below. 

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group Kick-Off  in Ahwatukee: Trauma 101
Are you a grandparent who has given up your retirement or your own plans in order to take on the diapers, daycare, teacher conferences, and everything else that comes along with raising grandchildren?  If so, we invite you to join us at Mountain View Lutheran Church for a kickoff  meeting for grandparents raising grandchildren in Ahwatukee, AZ.  The purpose of the kickoff  is to unite, empower, and support grandparents who are in the role of primary caregiver of their grandchildren, while addressing trauma and resiliency in them.

New Support Group in Ahwatukee for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Grandparents raising grandchildren – are you feeling overwhelmed, confused, and alone?  A new support group will begin in the Ahwatukee area, starting in April. Come out and join other grandparents as we share, learn, and grow together.
Dates:   Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, starting April 11, 2018
Time:   9 – 11 a.m.

Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma: A Workshop for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Participants in this “Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma” workshop will learn what trauma is, how trauma may impact children, and how their behaviors are often symptoms of those experiences. The curriculum package also provides information on how to create a safe place, how to become an advocate for trauma-specific services, and how to recognize and help prevent compassion fatigue.
Dates:   Every 4th Wednesday of the month, starting April 25, 2018
