An American Airlines flight bound for Honolulu was forced to reverse course and head back to Sky Harbor International Airport Saturday afternoon.
According to Phoenix Fire officials, Flight 692 took off from Sky Harbor just past 2 p.m., but had to turn back after pilots reported a mechanical issue.
The plane landed safely and returned to the gate without issue. The Airbus 330-300 crossed over the Arizona-California line about 150 miles west of Phoenix when an indicator light came on. Officials have not elaborated on the nature of the problem, but the flight was canceled and the 270 passengers were booked onto other flights.
