History buffs and archaeological aficionados should consider a new career opportunity at the Pueblo Grande Museum in Phoenix.
Applications are now being accepted for part-time museum aides, who will support daily operations and technical museological work.
Duties include coordinating the Museum’s Volunteer Program, preparing exhibits, managing collections, serving visitors and performing publicity and marketing activities. While detailed instructions are provided with each new assignment, employees are expected to exercise independent judgment in the completion of assigned tasks, as well as exhibit a high standard of customer service with exemplary guest services.
Successful applicants should have one year of museum experience in archaeological or museum work and college course work in a related field, or one year of experience as a volunteer manager, knowledge of museum work and college course work in related field. An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
Preferred qualifications include a college degree in anthropology, history, or a related field; knowledge and experience leading museum educational classes and programs; excellent customer service and cash handling skills; and experience directly supervising and managing volunteers and interns.
Employees may be required to move objects up to 50 pounds, and they must meet background checks and fingerprinting standards for positions that work with children.
This position may require working irregular hours such as evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution and dust.
This position pays $16.21/hour and is classified as part-time, so it does not include benefits.
