Flagstaff residents and the surrounding community are invited to apply for an unique, inside look at the Coconino County Attorney’s Office.

The Attorney’s Office will hold a free Citizen Prosecutor Academy on Friday, November 3, bringing the community into the office for a valuable experience. The all-day event, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., is led by various experts from the Attorney’s Office and professionals with careers in criminal justice. They use their expertise to encourage a better understanding of how the Attorney’s Office serves the public, as well as how criminal cases are handled, from intake or grand jury through trial to appeal. The Medical Examiner will present a lecture, and the Department of Public Safety Crime Lab will give a presentation. This immersive experience will help them learn about real-world prosecution and law enforcement.

Class size is limited, and applications are available online at coconino.az.gov/CountyAttorney. For questions, please contact Michelle Cook at 928- 679-8229 or [email protected]

I am a multimedia journalist and proud graduate from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication. I am originally from Minnesota, and I love learning about my second home, Arizona, and all of it's awesome communities through my contributions to My Local News! When I was a little girl, I created my own "newspaper" for my neighborhood and spent all my time writing, printing and sending each edition to my loyal subscribers (AKA my family and neighbors!). Now, it's a dream come true to be able to write everyday and have a positive impact on communities through my reporting. In my free time, I love to travel, hike, cook and spend time with my family and friends.
