Local author Rebecca Massey has released two new illustrated children’s books, continuing the popular adventures of the Colton’s Pocket Dragon series. The series began with an introduction to a ten-year-old boy, Colton, who lives in a quiet Midwestern town. His humdrum existence is brightened up when he finds a mysterious egg that hatches into a tiny dragon. Each of the books that followed have taken Colton and his dragon friends on exciting trips: saving Iggy the Bigfoot and meeting Santa Claus are among the stories told in the first eight books.

This fall, Massey has released two more Colton books. In the original Colton’s Pocket Dragon series, she released “Book 9: RC Airplane,” where Colton and his secret baby dragon learn a lesson together as they navigate new adventures. Then, in the first installment of the new Colton’s Time Machine Series, “Book 1: Columbus, Independence and Washington,” Colton begins his time machine adventures, taking his pocket dragons with him back in time to meet historical figures.

Massey uses the dragon books concept as the background to teaching young people traditional values. Her work demonstrates that dragon books can be something much more than just fantasy stories.

“I’m very excited about Colton’s new tales,” Massey says. “Kids are drawn into the books because of the sense of fun and wonder a pocket dragon inspires, but I also want there to be something valuable for them to take away. The best children’s books have lessons that stay with readers long after they put the book back on the shelf.”

The other books in this series include: Book 1: Dragon Land, Book 2: Iggy the Bigfoot, Book 3: Skylar the Dinosaur, Book 4: Meeting Santa Claus, Book 5: Tansy the Abdominal Snowman, Book 6: Heaven, Book 7: Max The Race Car and Book 8: The Dream.

The two newest books in the series are available at www.Amazon.com and www.BarnesandNoble.com. Visit the author’s website at www.coltonspocketdragon.com to watch short videos of each book.
