Sky Harbor Adds to Award Collection

America’s friendliest airport can now add a new accomplishment to its resume.

Sky Harbor International Airport was awarded the second annual Airport Innovation Award for initiating programs and technology that improve passenger experience.

Setting a high standard of customer service is nothing new for Sky Harbor, which has initiated many improvements since joining the American Association of Airport’s Accelerator Partner program. This includes the completion of the first phase of a massive $590 million redesign project in Terminal 3, increasing the efficiency of passenger flow and experience. A smoother operating process will make it easier for passengers to check their bags, go through security, and make their flights on-time without hiccups or holdups.

In addition to design improvements, Sky Harbor was recognized for it’s philanthropic efforts as well. Earlier this year, the airport hosted a ‘Wings for Autism’ event in partnership with Arc of Wings. This ‘dress rehearsal’ gave youth affected by autism and their families a special chance to prepare for their trip to the airport by practicing the check-in, TSA checkpoint and boarding process.
