(Glendale, Arizona) – Downtown Glendale will soon be home to its very own cat cafe! Mews and Brews, a passion project brought to life by Glendale’s own Lisa Cleaveland, will be launching its Indiegogo campaign on January 24th, 2017 with the hopes of raising enough funds to build the cafe in the historic Catlin Court district of Downtown Glendale.
Mews and Brews will be partnering with Sun Cities 4 Paws, a local west valley no-kill shelter. Their goal is to increase the number of cats brought in and adopted out of Sun Cities 4 Paws. In 2015, Sun Cities 4 Paws took in 927 cats and adopted out 882. Mews and Brews hopes to increase that amount by allowing cats that best fit their model to live at the cafe until they are adopted out. Mews and Brews will also focus on educating about FeLV+ (feline leukemia) cats. FeLV+ cats have a very low adoption rate and Mews and Brews hopes to diminish the stigma around feline leukemia.
Mews and Brews will also play host to many different events including Yoga with Cats, Mewvie Nights, Paint Nights, Author Readings/Play Readings, Beer/Wine tastings, chair massage events, crochet/knitting events with cats, Student Finals Week, and private events, and will also showcase art by local artists.
