(Tucson, Arizona) – Thanks to an anonymous donor, beginning Monday, Dec. 26 and running for six consecutive months, Altered Tails, a 501c3 organization and Tucson’s first spay/neuter clinic specializing in high quality, low cost services, is launching an edgy billboard awareness campaign to assist the nonprofit in spreading the word about the importance of controlling the animal population in Pima county.

The two billboard locations are at E. Speedway Blvd. and the I-10 (heading West on E. Speedway) and at the intersection of E. Ajo Way and S. Alvernon Way in South Tucson.

“Our goal with this campaign is to create awareness about the importance of spay and neuter, ultimately enlisting the residents of Pima County to assist us in controlling the animal population,” said Ellen Clark, executive director, Altered Tails.

Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population and is safe for puppies and kittens as young as 12 weeks of age, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association. Spaying a female dog before the first heat cycle can be beneficial, improving the health of the pet by reducing the risk of certain reproductive cancers and infections.
