Flagstaff High Student Wins Prestigious Scholarship

A local student has won a prestigious scholarship award.

Zachary Philpot of Flagstaff High School was named as one of the winners of the 49th annual National Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Competition.

The distinguished awards are given to high school seniors for the best all-around presentations including an explanation of why they are pursuing careers in civil and government service.

This scholarship program, established in 1969, aims to encourage and inspire future leaders with the same beliefs, courage and dedication as George Washington and his soldiers demonstrated during the Washington crossing. On Christmas night in 1776, Washington and his crew managed to cross the Delaware River in adverse winter conditions to claim victory in the Battle of Trenton, ultimately turning the tide of the American Revolution toward the U.S.A.
Congratulations Zachary! For more information on this scholarship program, please visit the official website HERE.
