AmeriSchools Academy to Receive a Block Watch Grant
The NBWGP Oversight Committee has recommended the AmeriSchools Academy application for full funding. The AmeriSchools Campus in collaboration with the Grandview Neighborhood Association has been recommended to be funded to support afterschool functions at the campus.
AmeriSchools Academy’s after school programs decrease student’s unproductive activity on city streets after school, as well as, decreases “Latch Key” student’s idol time at home after school. It seeks to increase the number of students participating in afterschool activities and enriching it throughout the school year.
Part 1: Support PAC’s cohesive partnership with AmeriSchools’ already existing extracurricular activities.
Part 2: Support and extend afterschool sports, clubs and tutoring. To include facility use, tournament fees, club performances, and supplies.
Part 3: Support student and community based STEM programs through farming, nutrition/cooking, and entrepreneurship. Students will be able to engage their on campus, and off campus farming and nutrition activities and collaborate with local organizations.
This proposal aims to support youth, parents, educators, and the community. Additional support will only further reduce juvenile crime in our neighborhood. AmeriSchools Academy is very grateful for the NBWGP’s consideration for such funding and to the Grandview Neighborhood Association for their continued support of public school students, our future leaders.
