CalPortland – Arizona received the VESP (Voluntary Environmental Stewardship Program) award for the second time. ADEQ’s (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality) VESP program recognized the deserving voluntary efforts of CalPortland for contributing to enhancing and protecting our communities’ health and environment.
ADEQ’s VESP encourages environmentally responsible economic growth and incentivizes Arizona businesses and other organizations demonstrating effective environmental practices to find more ways they can benefit from these actions, which also protect public health and the environment.
CalPortland received the Gold VESP award for the Coolidge and Rio Rico Ready Mix Plants and Aggregate sites. CalPortland received the Gold Level Recognition from Ian Bingham, ADEQ Communication Director and Ombudsman and former Arizona state representative Hon. Amanda A Reeve, for CalPortland’s participation in VESP program for 1.) measurable environmental achievements and continual improvements in their environmental performance. 2.) commitment to developing and maintaining an EMS (Environmental Management System). 3.) commit to measure continued improvement. Receiving the award for CalPortland is Rebecca Kervella Environmental Specialist for Arizona and Scott Hughes the Environmental Manager for Arizona and Nevada. The spirit of the Arizona Revised Statute (A.R.S.) 49-192 is to recognize organizations that have a history of compliance and go above and beyond what is required. Those organizations that volunteer for this program are blazing the trail through innovation and cost reduction for a more sustainable and responsible industry. Another example of how CalPortland is the Environmental Leader in our industry.
