A 1920’s Escape in the Heart of Ice Cream

A 1920’s Escape in the Heart of Ice Cream

Among the many chains of ice cream shops that surround the city of Tucson, there is a cute and quaint shop that sticks out among the rest. Isabella’s Ice Cream, an all natural, fresh, and hand crafted ice cream shop on 4th Avenue is serving up all things delicious! From the numerous flavors that range from the classic Chocolate to Lavender Vanilla, there is something to please all different taste bud preferences.

When entering the ice cream shop, you are welcomed with a spacious and beautiful store that transports you back to the 1920’s. With the beautiful chandeliers that hang from the ceiling of the establishment, the light pink walls, and the old fashion Ford Model T truck, there is something that catches the eye right when you walk in.

When it comes to picking what you want to indulge in, there are many options ranging from a scoop of ice cream to bon-bon’s to ice cream sandwiches. The ice cream is all handmade in the back of the shop and is made with all natural, fresh ingredients to ensure that the customers are getting the best quality ice cream.

While visiting here on a Sunday night, I called in advance to ensure that they were open for business and in fact they were… till 12am. Not only is the ice cream delicious, but is also obtainable at any hour of the day and night (open from 12pm-12am Monday -Sunday). After seeing all of my options, I decided to order an ice cream sandwich for old time’s sake. The sandwich, made with fresh and made-in-house cookies was quite delicious and exactly what I needed to start the week off right. The young woman who assisted us with ordering also told me that I was allowed to order 2 different flavors, if I so choose, to put in my sandwich, which I thought was pretty cool. Not only did I get a delicious treat but it also was like I ordered two different desserts. I settled for the Rocky Road and Mint Chocolate Chip as my two options and they were better than expected. The ice cream was very rich and creamy, yet not overwhelmingly sweet and the cookies were soft enough to bite into but kept the sandwich in tact. It was the recipe for a perfect ice cream sandwich!

From the atmosphere to the presentation of the ice cream shop, this is a place that is high on my list of recommendations if you have a sweet tooth, like me. There is no denying that this was one of my most favorite outings in Tucson.
